Protection and the self

My travels of life were long and the paths scarce. What I have learned is not common, not usual amongst men. I have learned to protect myself without raising a fist, and yet without a word. In the middle of all lies the one unspoken truth: respect. Being aware of deception, being aware of feelings, being aware of surroundings. Respect, and you are given respect. Fear, and you are given disdain. Act, and you are given accident. What is it that gives us the calm we need?

What I believe is that faith in the mankind is one of the greatest tools of survival. This faith is based on the fact that we are all human beings, capable of good and bad, but wishing for good whenever possible. This faith can be studied in meditation that gives us understanding in ourselves as well as others. The knowledge gained will enhance our awareness on our surroundings as well as improve our self-control, giving valuable tools of survival in our everyday life and beyond.
